Sierra Nevada has announced a recall of certain varieties of beer sold in 12-ounce bottles and distributed to 36 states in the US.
The recall applies to 6-packs, 12-packs, and cases of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Torpedo Extra IPA, Tropical Torpedo, Sidecar Orange Pale Ale, Beer Camp Golden IPA, Otra Vez, Nooner, Hop Hunter IPA bottled in the company’s facility in Mills County, NC between December 6 and January 13.
Sierra Nevada issued the recall after discovering a flaw in a small number of bottles that could cause loss of carbonation and a small piece of glass to break off and possibly fall into the bottle where it could cause injury.
I have some Pale Ale in my fridge right now but luckily none of it comes from the batches affected.
If you have any of the Sierra Nevada varieties listed above at home you should check the codes printed on the bottles or packaging to see if they pose a threat. Directions for checking the codes are included on the official recall page located here.
If they are part of the recall, dispose of it right away. On the company’s site there is a short form you can complete to request compensation.
